Body, boat and blade” is the normative phase often used in the kayaking world. And the blade makes all the difference when facing the wind and waves or enduring the pace of a longer trip.

We are very pleased to carry Seven -2 paddles. Their newest entry, the “radium” can be customized to your grip which augments the already remarkable line of gripped paddles that put your hands in a most relaxed position for those longer paddles. The “Radium” is fantastic! These high performance blades are available at excellent price points and we view them as excellent value given their performance characteristics.

For other accessories, we have had a lot of fun finding those different things that are handy and interesting for the paddler…..and the inventory grows. We are counting on you to provide feedback of interesting and helpful stuff.

The first place to start in accessories is safety. We have one of the most unique first products on the market. Actually every home should have one it is the QuikClot bandage that prevents severe bleeding in the case of a severed artery. It is a fantastic product that should be in every first aid kit. We suggest with every first aid kit we sell. Other on water safety products include whistles, paddle floats, tow ropes and safety lights for evening paddling. Of course we are proud of our excellent line of Stohlquist PFD’s, including specialty designs for women and fishermen.

Among our new products is the Malone line of kayak trailers and racks. We believe the future with lighter and smaller cars will be pulling light trailers. Malone has an outstanding product line and we are pleased to carry it. We also carry Genesis trailers.

 Sherpa Adventure Gear
As with most of the items we carry, there is reason and meaning behind them. When I first met Tashi and then Tsedo (pronounced  Su DOH) , his daughter, I was taken by their candor and mission. Certainly they have developed a very good line of clothing that is well tested in the coldest and windiest regions in the world on the icy paths of the Himalaya mountains. Tested by people who make their living wearing the clothing in their dangerous, daily work, the products are wonderful.

Not only are these Sherpa workers paid fairly, but funds provided to benefit  the Sherpa children, Tashi’s heritage has not been forgotten. We are very pleased to be one of the very few shops in Michigan to carry their line of layered clothing.

This is a great example of modern technology blending with traditional customers in the combinations of wool, modern wicking materials and bamboo to provide excellent protection from the wind and weather.

Other Stuff
We think being a shopkeeper and running a small shop should be fun. It is.
