As you read through our site, you will note some changes and additions. We are increasing our emphasis on getting out in nature and paddling. Michigan offers a huge series of options. West Michigan, our immediate area, is a microcosm of Michigan Paddling and you will note that we have added a new section entitled “Paddling West Michigan Beach Towns”. Our goal is for at least one group paddle per week this summer.

Michigan has over 50,000 miles of rivers and streams to paddle. We are happy to help you identify and plan your trip. Check out our blog http://skipsnotes.blogspot.com/ and you can find us on Twitter, Face book and You Tube. Our paddling venues are among the most beautiful in the country.

Our trips, beyond west Michigan, bring us to Drummond Island, the inland water way outside of Petoskey and the cave formations on the Bruce Peninsula on Georgian Bay.

Balance Your Life
A new theme for us this year is “Balance your Life”. You will notice this on various printed materials from our shop. We realize that the best way to enjoy paddling and reap returns from your outdoor adventures is for a balance in your approach. This means to us regular exercise, good nutrition, healthy relationships and a reasonable approach to work.

Trash Bag Paddles
We offer our rental customers a payback opportunity. Take a bag with you and return it to us with trash from your paddling area and we will rebate $ 5 on your rental charges. We think everyone wins with this notion that we picked up through another Emotion dealer in Gulfport, Florida.

New Lines
Among the lines this year is the Delsyk line of kayaks.  Designed by Mike Necklar (the founder of Necky) he is back with this outstanding line of boats which fit between our Prijon touring boats and the Emotion recreational line of kayaks. Our nifty touring boats will be the 385 ( 12’6”) and 430 (14’1”). The 430 comes equipped with a rudder or skeg. A great new river boat this year is Tuktu, a 10’4” kayak with a single rear hatch and bulkhead. I have recently spent a day in the Tuktu and find it to be just a wonderful boat for rivers and lakes. The Nifty line is available to us as Prijon dealers because of their partnership with Nifty.

Another boat is the Spitfire, which is a blow- molded short boat at 8’ and 30 pounds. It is a great sit-on top beach boat made for family fun.

These are great value boats that bring our customers even a wider selection of good value.

Last year, Bending Branches acquired Aqua Bound paddles, so we have a strong line of excellent paddles. The manufacture is done just across the Lake in Wisconsin and offer excellent performance at good prices. We special order extra high performance paddles from a series of manufacturers.
