Our trip scheduled for August 30 to September 3 is described below.
Here is an idea of the paddling days in front of us this year. The actual paddling will vary due to conditions, but we expect that we will paddle these venues while we are on the island.
Sunday evening August 30, 2009
• Arrival and light meal when you arrive.
• Orientation and meeting others
Monday
• Breakfast 8 AM
• 8:45 paddling orientation and head to the boats
• paddle Big Shoal and Scammon Coves, see Lumber yard ruins and sunken ship
• sandwich lunch during paddle
• dinner at Cabins
• evening paddle
• beach fire
Tuesday
• Breakfast 8AM
• 8:45 paddling orientation and head to the boats
• Paddle to Harbor and around Harbor Island
• Visit Harbor Island National Wildlife Refuge
• Sandwich lunch on the Island
• Dinner at Cabins
• Beach fire and tall tales
Wednesday
• Sunrise Paddle- 5:30AM
• Breakfast on the beach
• Inland lake paddle-beaver, eagles etc.
• Sandwich lunch
• Depending on time and weather paddle Whitney Bay, Maxton or Sturgeon Bay
• Dinner out at “Port of Call”
• Fire on the beach
Thursday
• Breakfast at 8AM
• Last paddle around Potagannissing Bay in front of cabins on your own
• Pack up
• Off at noon.
Pricing
• Rooms: $65 per night, double occupancy. Three bedroom cottages with shared bath. Four nights= $260.
• Meals $50 total, excluding dinner out on Wednesday (or one evening depending on schedule).
• Administrative fee per person $75. Boat hauling, etc.
• Total per person = $385
• 50 % deposit by July 15 or earlier.
